the instance I run myself

Public instance

Don't want to run your own server? sync.shiori.gg is the official instance: the one I run, keep up, and sync my own library against, not a mirror someone spun up and forgot about. Point a client at it and skip straight to syncing. It's the same zero-knowledge guarantee either way; the server never sees anything but ciphertext, so self-hosting buys you control over uptime and retention, not extra privacy.

01

Connecting

Enter sync.shiori.gg as the server address wherever your client asks for one (in the Komikku fork, that's the sync server field in settings), then generate a new key or paste in one you already have. There's no sign-up, no email to confirm; the key is the account.

02

What you're trusting

There's no SLA, but there is skin in the game: this is where I keep my own manga library synced, so keeping it running is directly in my own interest, not an afterthought. It's the same open-source shiori-server(opens in new tab) binary anyone can self-host, with the same rate limits and inactive-account cleanup, so a quiet account eventually deletes itself. Using it means trusting that it stays up and that requests aren't tampered with in flight; it doesn't mean trusting it with your plaintext, since it never has any. Read the full threat model for what end-to-end encryption does and doesn't cover.
